"The mark of a true professional is that, in the moment when his
interests diverge from those of the client, the professional solely
pursues the interests of his client."
Steven G. Blum
Our firm adheres to a distinct concept of professionalism and integrity:
in exchange for receiving our fee, everything that we do is purely for
the well being of our clients. We are not trying to earn commissions,
increase sales, or impress a boss to get a promotion or bonus. Our only
objective is to help our clients reach their goals. You expect this
from your doctor; you should insist on it from the other professionals
who serve you.
It is important to understand how our approach differs from that of
most brokers, planners, and financial consultants. For example, if a
stockbroker recommends a particular investment, it's hard to know if
he really believes that it's the best investment for you. Maybe the
brokerage company has a large inventory of that stock and needs to sell
some off. Every time the broker sells your stock and buys something
else, a commission is generated. It's good for him, but is it good for
you? Although most brokers are decent and honest, they periodically
face conflicts of interest that pit your interests against those of
their firms. It is unavoidable that the clients' best interests will
sometimes be overlooked.
In founding our practice, we searched for a way to receive reasonable
compensation for selling our expertise without creating the potential
for conflicts of interest. We decided that we would charge only reasonable
and fair fees and never charge commissions or sell products.
The advantages of paying a flat fee for such advice are significant.
We have no products to sell, no quotas to meet, and no interests to
place ahead of our clients'. This is simply not true for most brokers,
planners, and financial advisers. When we make recommendations, you
can rest assured that we mean what we say. Our only interest is in helping
our clients pursue their financial goals by doing our job to the very
best of our ability.
